"Then and Now" cont...

The run was a success. The weather is astounding today. Now it is time to focus on what lies ahead...

What makes someone strong? What makes you feel empowered, ready to take on the world? I am about to embark on my daily run. Well, I say daily, but honestly it's more like weekly, maybe bi-weekly (if I'm doing really good) run. Anyway, before I even embark on my run, I have mentally and physically prepared myself to be "strong." I start by putting on my "Then and Now" playlist. Whitney Houston "Salute" begins to pound and I feel the adrenaline start. Why is the playlist called "Then and Now?" Well, I have lost 40 pounds over the past two years. My weight loss stemmed from a place unhappiness and loneliness, and has become a journey of self realization and acceptance of myself. I try to reflect on what makes me different now, from who I was then...
